I have had the privilege of knowing Jacqueline for over 20 years, meeting her at a St. David’s support group for mother’s raising children with intellectual disabilities. Over the years I have watched her advocate with passion and determination for her son Sam, who has Angelman’s syndrome, while raising three other children. During those challenging years, Jacqueline also launched and ran a business updating and renting homes to families in the Minneapolis/ St. Paul area. She was also the Board Chair for Camp du Nord, a YMCA camp that offers year round opportunities for families to reconnect and commune with nature.
Whether advocating for her family, running her business or guiding in the board room, I have experienced Jacqueline as a true leader with integrity and a deep seated commitment to civic responsibility. As your next Orono city council member, you can expect deep listening, a collaborative spirit and strong representation for all.
I can say without hesitation…
Vote for Jacqueline Ricks for Orono City Council! -
Lisa Adzick, Senior Management Consultant, Project Manager
I've known Jacqueline for about 5 years as we both attend the Parables Disabilities Ministry at Wayzata Community Church. Jacqueline is an extremely smart, no-nonsense, collaborative, attentive, and get-it-done person. She invests the time to listen to ensure that the right and cost-effective initiatives get done properly. Jacqueline is inquisitive and a creative problem solver, and she has no issue with asking the hard questions and challenging the status quo in a civil manner.

I was lucky enough to meet Jacqueline when I moved to Minnesota 22 years ago. Over the years I have watched Jacqueline excel in various leadership roles and run a business while raising four children. She constantly amazed me with her ability to handle multiple tasks capably and confidently. Jacqueline is very intelligent, honest and a person of high integrity. She is a good listener and a great problem solver. The residents of Orono would be very lucky to have her represent them on the Orono City Council!

I’ve known Jacquie and her family for over 20 years. Jackie is a smart and kind businessperson, mother and friend. She will be a great addition to the Orono City Council because she will be fiscally responsible and she will listen and be respectful to others, even to those who she may not agree with. I trust Jacquie wholeheartedly, and I promise that you can too!

It is with joy and confidence that I endorse Jacqueline Ricks for Orono City Council. It’s hard to imagine a more engaged, clear-eyed, and dedicated community member. She is a bridge builder and pragmatist, while caring deeply for the health and integrity of each person, family, and neighborhood. Just what we need in civic leadership.

Connie Apple, Letter to the Editor
As our local elections approach, I look forward to voting for some new names and energy for the Orono city council. One of those names is Jacqueline Ricks.
I have known Jacqueline for over 20 years as someone who is honest, kind, respectful, and generous with her time and talents - which are many. She is a leader who will show up for our community.
The current situation within the Orono city council is completely unacceptable on so many levels, especially to anyone who cares about trustworthiness and accountability in the management of our tax dollars. We should not continue to allow the unnecessary runaway spending without transparency, discussion and approval that is happening with the current officials.
We all need to pay attention, and we need a new leadership team who will welcome citizen presence and participation in making important decisions for our community. Jacqueline Ricks will be just that kind of council member and I look forward to voting for her on Nov. 5.
